Carwow's Mat Warson visit's the Koenigsegg factory in Sweden
The Advanced Engineering Behind The Koenigsegg’s New 2,300hp Hypercar
Video

We often feature Carwow videos with a subtle roasting of Mat Watson, but on this rare occasion, we actually focus on the car rather than the personality. Watson and his Carwow posse are in Sweden, home to the always difficult-to-spell-off-the-top-of-your-head Koenigsegg. There are three G’s — it’s always three, never two.

Mr Koenigsegg began his early business career selling frozen chickens, pens, paper — indeed, anything that would make money — which he put into setting up the Koenigsegg hypercar company we all know today. The company now makes headline-grabbing hypercars with ethereal levels of performance.

Mr Koenigsegg oversees every detail of development, and what we learn is that the company produces bespoke and highly advanced powertrains in-house — every single part, component, and system. Business people would call this “end-to-end,” but I say: not bad for a former frozen-chicken seller.

Watson gets the chance to see the Gemera’s 5-litre V8 in action with the development team, witnessing how much power it produces and how the engineers plan to push it to its full potential. He’ll also get up close and personal with the incredible electric motors that will be used in this forthcoming hypercar.
