BMW iX3 Preorders Open in US With Major EV Efficiency Gains
Auto News

BMW has opened US preorders for the all-new 2027 iX3, the first vehicle from its next-generation “Neue Klasse” electric platform, with prices starting at $61,500.

The BMW iX3 represents a major update to the company’s EV strategy, introducing a new 800-volt architecture, sixth-generation eDrive system, and advanced cylindrical battery cells.

These upgrades deliver up to 434 miles of driving range and significantly faster charging, with the ability to recharge from 10% to 80% in about 21 minutes using up to 400 kW DC fast charging.

Three trims are available: Sport, M Sport, and M Sport Professional, with higher versions adding performance styling and more equipment. Including destination fees, the starting price rises to around $62,850, with additional options available for comfort, technology, driver assistance, and interior features.

Inside, the iX3 debuts BMW’s new Neue Klasse cabin design, featuring a large central infotainment screen and a panoramic head-up display that stretches across the base of the windshield. The layout emphasizes a more digital, minimalist, and driver-focused experience.

BMW positions the iX3 as a key competitor in the premium electric SUV segment, offering longer range and lower pricing than several rivals, including the Porsche Macan Electric and Mercedes EQS SUV. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in late September 2026, with reservations already open through BMW’s website.
