Fenomeno Roadster: Lamborghini Builds a 1,065 HP Roofless Birthday Weapon
Auto News

Some anniversaries get a commemorative mug. Lamborghini, in its usual subtle and restrained fashion, has decided to build a 1,065 horsepower roofless weapon and call it a birthday present.

Meet the Fenomeno Roadster, a celebration of 63 years since Ferruccio Lamborghini decided tractors were boring and supercars should be loud, angry, and slightly unhinged. It follows the already ridiculous Fenomeno coupe, but this is the version where someone at Sant’Agata clearly said, “Yes, but what if we removed the roof and made it even more dramatic?”

There isn’t one. No folding hardtop, no targa trickery, no polite compromise. It’s just you, the sky, and a very expensive carbon fibre missile that has opinions about physics.

Only 15 will be built, which is fewer than most people’s group chats. And Lamborghini, in a rare moment of generosity, has allowed the Roadster to be slightly different from the coupe. The side windows are chopped down for aggression, the windscreen gains a little carbon aero flick, and the engine cover sprouts twin humps that double as rollover protection—because safety, but make it Italian.

Underneath, it’s still pure chaos. A 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 does most of the shouting, assisted by three electric motors that bring the total to 1,065 hp. That’s more power than most small villages, and roughly the same level of restraint as a fireworks factory during a drought.

Despite losing its roof, Lamborghini claims it barely gains any weight and somehow matches the coupe for downforce and stability. Which is either engineering wizardry or marketing confidence bordering on poetry.

Performance? Of course it’s ridiculous. 0–100 km/h in 2.4 seconds, and a top speed north of 340 km/h. At that point, the wind isn’t air anymore—it’s a negotiation.

Visually, it’s finished in colours that sound like espresso orders and Renaissance paintings, with enough carbon fibre to make a Formula 1 team blush. Inside, it’s all angular drama and red stitching, like a nightclub designed by someone who really, really likes Y-shaped motifs.

And because Lamborghini can’t help itself, this joins a long tradition of “we built it because we could” specials. Think Veneno, Centenario, Sián—all rare, all outrageous, all already sitting in collections doing absolutely nothing except appreciating and intimidating guests.

There’s no official price, but if you have to ask, you’re probably still several zeros short.

Meanwhile, Lamborghini is already working on the Temerario Spyder, because apparently “enough” is not a concept they recognise.
