Here we go again: it’s the BMW thing. Create a magnificent, head-turning concept, make the automotive world and the buying public gasp in amazement, then bring in the Costco accountants for the inevitable reality check. And the reality is that the Vision BMW ALPINA is exactly that — a shamanic design study intended to convince you that BMW is finally taking the idea of design language seriously again.
So what is the BMW Vision Alpina about?
BMW unveiled 2026 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este the Vision BMW ALPINA — a car that doesn’t scream for attention so much as quietly assume it already owns the road.

And that’s important, because modern performance cars have become exhausting. Everything now has enormous grilles, fake vents, and enough aggression to invade a small country. But Alpina has always done things differently. Speed, yes. But with comfort. Grace. Manners.
The Vision BMW ALPINA is 5.2 metres long, low, elegant, and powered by a proper V8 — which immediately makes it more interesting than half the industry already.

Its styling is restrained but clever: a modern shark nose front end, hidden Alpina deco-lines beneath the paint, warm white lighting inspired by Alpine sunrises, and those classic 20-spoke wheels that suggest the car could cross Europe at 180mph without spilling your coffee.

Inside, it’s less sports car and more luxury lounge. Crystal controls, Alpine leather, satin metal finishes, and even self-rising crystal glasses in the rear console. Because of course there are.

More importantly, it preserves founder ’s philosophy that “a comfortable driver is a faster driver.” Which feels refreshingly sensible in a world obsessed with Nürburgring lap times.

Now officially part of BMW, Alpina is being positioned between BMW M and . And if this concept is anything to go by, the future looks fast, expensive, and understated.. as long as the Costco accountants stay away.
