Land Rover Freelander 8 Review: It simply isn’t ready, it’s a disaster

Fifty days—that’s all the time the Freelander 8 has left before its scheduled launch in China, yet it still doesn’t have a price. More concerning, however, is that it appears far from production-ready. Invited to a static preview, the host of the Telescope YouTube channel delivered a scathing assessment.

According to him, the interior’s fit and finish fall well below expectations for a vehicle this close to launch, while the software is in an alarming state. It’s not just the infotainment system that remains unfinished—even basic functions, including the seat controls, are not working properly. He also pointed to unresolved ergonomic flaws.

While he praised both the interior and exterior styling, he argued that cosmetic appeal can’t hide the vehicle’s unfinished state. In his view, the problems he identified are the kind that should have been ironed out months ago, not with just 50 days remaining before customers are expected to take delivery.

The reviewer didn’t mince words, concluding that the Land Rover Freelander 8 is “simply not ready” and describing it as a “disaster.” He questioned how Land Rover could realistically resolve such fundamental issues in the short time left before launch, suggesting the company faces a daunting challenge if it hopes to deliver a polished product on schedule.
