The “Disintegrating Series” is designed to take a look at a suite of performance cars that appear to have been blown apart.
The process of capturing such a photograph isn’t completed by blowing up a scale model and using a high speed camera to capture the resulting effect.
Fabian’s technique is far more laborious. Each scale model is effectively disassembled and each component is individually photographed.
Commponents that appear to be floating are actually suspended by ‘invisible wires’. After each component is photographed in its state of “disintegration” Fabian digitally composites each part.
Using digital technology Fabian is able to composite hundreds of individual images into one giving the resulting effect.
If it were us we would have just blown the dam thing up and used a high speed camera. But it’s amazing nonetheless.
