Mercedes are trying so very hard to make sure consumers forget the X-Class Pickup truck is nothing more than a rebadged Nissan Navara with a Teutonic inspired interior. So from this day forth, the Mercedes X Class shall be referred to by its ‘real’ name… the Nissan X-Class. Mercedes’ latest ploy to hypnotize you into believing the Nissan is not a Nissan is by creating as close to the real concept as you can get.
This is where the Nissan X Class Campervan comes into play and not only does it look ridiculous it looks out of place with the lifestyle of a typical Mercedes customers. If you are able to afford a Mercedes then the chances are that you rarely ever “slum it“.
That is to say, you do not camp in muddy fields surrounded by defecating cows. You do not slum it when going to the Glastonbury type music festivals unless you go specifically to take drugs.
Certainly, someone was probably taking drugs when they decided to merge the Nissan X Class with a camper van. Thankfully it’s just at the conceptual stage… but… for how long…
The whole idea looks ridiculous, desperate and just another money-spinning exercise which in and of itself isn’t a bad thing other than the whole thing looks bad.
Mind you, what would the Merc executives know for they are probably floating on a cloud being chased by pink Grisley bears wearing Tutus and Bowler hats.
So what did Mercedes say about this impending doomed concept? “It is important to us that our vehicles appeal to camper van bodybuilders as well, of course, to end customers. The X-Class fits seamlessly into our established product range.”, says Volker Mornhinweg, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans.
Our advice is to steer clear of the Nissan X Class. Therefore Nissan X Class YOU are not even fit enough for D class status you are an embarrassment and the worst car of the week.
