Ford To Stop New Mustang Mach-E Orders Due To Popularity
Auto News

We very rarely report any news related to Ford apart from the GT40 and F150, because no other Ford interests us. Certainly not the Ford Fiesta. However, the all-electric Mustang Mach-E SUV has become so popular that it has forced Ford to stop all new orders for certain trim levels. Specifically the Premium and California Route 1. Questionable trim branding aside, Ford is still taking orders for entry-level models and the next one above, GT. In doing so Ford will be able to complete existing orders to placate impatiently waiting and demanding new owners.

You put your money down, you expect that Mach-E now. Nevertheless, to meet that demand Ford will be ramping up and revamping production up by 50-percent in all areas.

The production upgrades will take time to implement which is why Ford decided to temporarily halt new orders. The model trims mentioned are currently not available to order.

Prices for the entry-level Mustang Mach-E start at $43K, the AWD extended range GT variant costs $60K. Waiting times are long even for these available variants with quotes of up to 20 – 28 weeks being the norm for now.

The global chip shortage has further compounded demand. That being said such is the demand for the Mach-E that even usually tone-deaf Ford was caught somewhat unawares.
