Look at it, it is made by the Sterile Corporate Monolith Stellantis, it’s a Pandemic Peugeot by any other name but like a waffle, it has been compressed and baked into a Vauxhall Astra. The words Vauxhall and Astra , when combined deliver mundane and hopelessness, the Vauxhall Astra has and always will be a deep depression and no amount of mental gymnastics can get you out of the permanent void it leaves behind.

The Astra has transitioned to electric, but the issue lies in its retention of legacy traits from the traditional car industry. It endeavours to cater to both customer groups—those inclined towards petrol and those eager to accelerate into the electric era. However, the challenge arises from the inability to engineer an efficient, purely electric vehicle when it shares a platform designed for two different powertrains.

At the very least, it’s an expensive endeavour, evident in its price point. This sterile, Stellantis-made Vauxhall Astra starts at £40,000 with a maximum range of 256 miles. Never trust the range claims made by car manufacturers since they are typically derived from laboratory data, then extrapolated by marketing departments and reshaped into misleading information.

Lies, all lies.

At an educated guess, based on driving legacy car manufacture EVs, the Vauxhall Astra EV Estate will be good for 190 miles of real-world range which is good for nothing. If you’re considering investing £40K in a Sterile Stellantis-made EV, best of luck; just bear in mind the Tesla Model 3 – overlooking it is your loss.
