Ahead of the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton inspected the new Mercedes AMG PureSport Concept. Hamilton and his teammate George Russell appeared at a media event to generate publicity for the concept. The AMG PureSpeed previews a limited edition “ultra model” set to debut next year.
The world premiere of the Concept Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed took place in an exclusive setting on the sidelines of the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix. The vehicle was unveiled on a floating pontoon in the harbor of the principality.
The concept is inspired by current Formula One aerodynamic philosophy and features the protective F1-style Halo protection buttress in place of a windscreen. Drivers will need to wear helmets, and Mercedes has a trick up its sleeve for that: two custom-made crash helmets.
Mercedes did not confirm the powertrain that will be under the bonnet when the PureSpeed Concept becomes an ultra-rare reality. It is likely that Mercedes will use a V8 plug-in hybrid. The company has, for the time being, abandoned EV technology for this model.
The Concept Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed celebrates the unique tradition of Mercedes-Benz with pure and uncompromising race-car design, innovative materials, and modern technology. The strictly limited series of 250 units will only be available to the most dedicated Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts and collectors.
