I don’t know about you, but a car—a depreciating asset that loses significant value in a short period—costing $100,000 isn’t cheap by any measure. Yet, MKBHD seems to think otherwise. His reasoning? He claims that the EX90, Volvo’s electric version of the XC90, is 98 percent as luxurious as a Rolls-Royce Spectre—for just 25 percent of the cost.
Now, I assume MKBHD is referring to the interior. If so, he is completely wrong. The Volvo EX90 features plastic interior trim, whereas “plastic” is a word not recognized by Rolls-Royce—unless, of course, the materials department has suddenly gone eco-friendly.
Rolls-Royce is about real wood veneers, solid metal and glass, deep-pile carpets, and footrests. It is, and always will be, about ultra-luxury—a level beyond mere luxury.
