Auto News

Audi is reintroducing plug-in hybrid variants of the newly redeveloped A6 Saloon and Avant models, featuring advanced combustion technology and progressive hybrid systems. The new A6 e-hybrid quattro models, available in Saloon and Avant body styles, combine a 2.0 TFSI petrol engine (252 PS) with a 105 kW electric motor, offering a total output of 299 PS and 450 Nm of torque. These vehicles can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 6.0 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 mph.

Key features include a larger 25.9 kWh battery (net 20.7 kWh), enabling an electric-only range of up to 64 miles (Saloon) and 63 miles (Avant). AC charging at up to 11 kW allows a full recharge in just 2.5 hours.

The new Audi A6 e-hybrid quattro features significantly enhanced energy recuperation in both overrun and braking modes. During braking, the A6 can recover up to 88 kW of power, with the electric motor handling over 90% of deceleration in most situations. The integrated brake control system (iBRS) blends regenerative and hydraulic braking, reserving the traditional brakes only for more forceful stops.

The hybrid system offers EV and hybrid driving modes, energy recuperation with adjustable intensity, and intelligent energy management based on route data. Standard equipment includes quattro ultra all-wheel drive and all-wheel steering, enhancing agility and stability. Sound insulation has also been improved by up to 30% for a quieter ride.

The new A6 e-hybrid quattro models will be available in the UK from early June, with Sport, S line, and Edition 1 trims, starting at £60,980. Customer deliveries are expected later in the summer.
