Have you ever heard of the automotive company Skywell Auto? Nope, neither have we. But Skywell is a real company hailing from China. Founded several years ago, it owns Nanjing Golden Dragon Bus. Skywell Auto is transitioning into the EV industry and has been developing an SUV since 2017. And here it is, the Skywell BE11.
It’s good to get a bit of backstory to something you’ve never heard of before because it provides much-needed context. The Skywell brand is being prepped for a sales entry into the UK, with sales due to commence in Q3 of 2024.
All models are powered by a sprightly 204 PS/320 Nm motor, propelling the BE11 to 62 mph in just 9.6 seconds. There is an option of a 72 kWh and 86 kWh lithium-ion battery, providing practical ranges of 248 and 304 miles respectively (WLTP – Combined).
The interior features a 12.8” touchscreen display, panoramic ‘Skyroof’ sunroof, keyless entry and start, electric tailgate, and a 360-degree round-view monitor as standard across the range.
Also included is a comprehensive ADAS package that includes Intelligent Cruise Assist (ICA), Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR), and Blind Spot Detection (BSD).
Full pricing and specs will be revealed closer to the launch date. The Skywell BE11 demonstrates how Chinese manufacturers can seemingly establish car companies out of thin air with ease.
