Lucid Gravity Needs More Space And Time As Gravity Enters Black Hole Sales Flux
Needing More Space And Time: Lacklustre Sales of Lucid Gravity Is A Dark Matter
Industry News

Lucid Motors’ new Gravity electric crossover had only nine U.S. registrations by June 30, six months after production began, according to industry analysis. By comparison, the Lucid Air sedan saw 4,780 registrations in the first half of 2025, up 52% year-over-year.

Lucid disputed that the registration numbers reflected current sales, saying internal data shows Gravity deliveries in the “multiple hundreds,” with delays between sales and registrations. The company launched the Air in 2021 and views the Gravity as having much higher market potential.

Production has been slower than planned. Interim CEO Marc Winterhoff said early Gravity builds went to showrooms and test drives, with customer deliveries starting in spring. Supply chain constraints—especially magnet shortages from China—hampered output, though Lucid says most issues are now resolved.

On Aug. 5, Lucid cut its 2025 production outlook to 18,000–20,000 vehicles from 20,000, citing Gravity manufacturing challenges, and reported a $906M first-half net loss. Shares fell over 10% after the report. Winterhoff expects Gravity production to ramp in the second half, becoming the majority of deliveries. The Gravity starts at $96,500 with shipping.
