Ford doesn’t do special very often, it is a bread and butter car manufacturer aimed at shifting volume for beer-swilling pickup drivers. However, when Ford decides to apply its know-how it can do special as well as any other car manufacturer. And that special Ford is the GT performance supercar. The Ford GT has a lineage stretching back to the 1960s when a group of English engineers was assigned to build a Le Mans race car with the aim of beating the then-dominant Ferrari. They did it with the now-iconic GT40.

The latter is perhaps more of a direct descendant of the original GT40 in terms of its performance ideology. Only 1,350 Ford GTs will be built, each one is powered by a 3.5-L twin-turbocharged Ford EcoBoost V6 engine.
